Wayanad. The death toll in the landslide that occurred after heavy rains in Wayanad, Kerala has risen to 402. Out of these, only body parts of 181 people have been found. 180 people are still missing. Tuesday was the 8th day of the search operation.
The rescue team is searching in the Sunrise Valley area of Soochipara. This is a remote area where rescue work had not been done till now. A team has reached here by Air Force helicopter. The search operation is being conducted by dividing the affected areas into 6 zones. Meanwhile, a mass funeral was held for 29 unidentified people and 154 body parts who died in the landslide in Puthumala late on Monday night.
