Bangladesh interim government chief Mohammad Yunus has started giving lessons to India amid attacks on Hindus.
He has said that Bangladesh is not going to become Afghanistan. Yunus has appealed to the Indian government to work on strengthening relations with us instead of promoting this narrative about Bangladesh.
He also said that the attacks on minority Hindus in Bangladesh are more political than communal. He also questioned the way these incidents are being presented in India.
Yunus said that India should also come out of the notion that Bangladesh can remain safe only under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Mohammad Yunus said that the narrative going around in India is that Islamisation is taking place in Bangladesh. BNP is Islamic, others are also Islamic and will turn the country into Afghanistan.
He further said that India believes that Bangladesh is safe only as long as Sheikh Hasina is in power. It is wrong to think so.
He said that India needs to get out of this kind of narrative. Like other countries, Bangladesh is also your neighbor.
He also expressed his desire to end the tension in relations with India. He said that our relations are not that good at the moment. We will have to work towards strengthening the relations.
Yunus, who was appointed the country’s chief adviser after Hasina’s ouster, reiterated that attacks on minorities were exaggerated.
He said that these incidents are the result of political turmoil rather than communal violence. Mohammad Yunus said that propaganda is being spread in India regarding the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
In an interview to PTI, he said that we never said that we cannot do anything. We have always said that we can do everything.
It is noteworthy that after Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh on August 5, there were large scale violent protests here.
During this period, apart from attacks on Hindus, vandalism on their businesses and property, Hindu temples were also destroyed.
