Mumbai The weather in Mumbai took a sudden turn and it rained heavily on Thursday. There was a storm with heavy rain and lightning in many areas of Mumbai. Roads were submerged in water at many places due to rain. At the same time, some low-lying areas of the metropolis have been flooded due to rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow alert for light rain in Mumbai.
Rain put a dampener on Navratri celebrations. Many people’s Garba plans also got spoiled. Heavy rains caused waterlogging in Elphinstone Road area of Mumbai. Same was the condition of NM Joshi Marg located at Prabhadevi. On Friday, October 11, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in many districts. According to the Meteorological Department, yellow alert is issued for Friday in 29 districts of Maharashtra. Heavy rain is expected in these districts.
IMD says that Mumbai’s eastern suburbs, Navi Mumbai and Raigarh may also receive rain along with the storm. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain showers along with stormy winds for the next two hours. Amidst the heavy rains in Mumbai, IMD has predicted more heavy rains in many states also. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur over Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the next few days. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain in Karnataka, Goa, Ghat region of Maharashtra, Gujarat region, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
