Mutilated bodies of infants have been found in the evacuated ICU of Gaza’s Al-Nasr hospital.
Gaza-based reporter Mohammed Balousha has captured a painful video of the bodies of babies decomposing in a hospital.
According to CNN’s report, small bodies of children are visible in the video, which are seen fitted with life-saving equipment.
The footage from November 27 showed the remains of at least four infants, some of whom are visible as skeletons.
According to reports, Al-Nasr and Al-Rantisi children’s hospitals became a battlefield between Israeli and Hamas forces in early November.
Hospital staff were hastily evacuated on November 10 under Israeli instruction, CNN reported. In this haste, small children were left in the ICU who could not be taken out.
Babies left alive in ICU
The report also mentioned the condition of the infants, a doctor attached to the hospital said that two babies had died just before the evacuation, while three others, including a two-month-old baby, were left alive.
Dr. Mustafa al-Kahlout, head of both pediatric hospitals, highlighted the dire situation in a video on November 9, citing damage to the hospital and cuts to oxygen in the ICU.
Despite appeals for intervention from international organizations, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the hospital faced significant challenges. Due to the ongoing hostilities between Hamas and Israel, ambulances could not reach the facility.
An audio recording between a hospital official and an official coordinating Israeli activities in the area suggested an agreement for evacuation.
However, the ambulance reportedly never arrived. Ultimately the families and hospital staff were forced to evacuate on their own.
Reports indicate that Al-Nasr staff were instructed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to evacuate with white flags and vulnerable patients within a short time frame.
Who is responsible for the death of infants?
The IDF has denied responsibility for the deaths of the infants and described the allegations as false and a distortion of the facts. Despite IDF spokesman Doron Spielman’s denial of these facts, the circumstances surrounding the infants’ fate remain a matter of controversy.
The Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas control, accused the IDF of ordering the evacuation and falsely promising ICRC assistance. The ICRC clarified that it was not involved in any operations or evacuations due to the security situation.
