A woman was detained in Lahore, Pakistan because something was written in Arabic on her kurta.
Many people claimed that verses from the Quran were written on the kurta. She had reached a restaurant when the crowd became angry at the woman.
Its video is going viral on social media. Pakistani police say that the woman had gone shopping with her husband. Then the crowd surrounded the woman and started insisting on taking off her kurta.
Releasing its video, Pakistan’s Punjab Police said that the policemen present at the incident somehow handled the situation.
She somehow took the woman away from the crowd. It can be seen in the video that a Pakistan Police officer somehow takes the woman out of the crowd.
There has been an uproar on social media regarding this incident. While many people are opposing the woman, many people have also come out in her support.
An ex-user said, a dangerous story was in the making in Lahore.
If the ASP had not saved the woman, she would have been murdered in the name of religion. The only allegation against him was that he had written Arabic words on his kurta.
Another user said, the woman was surrounded by the mob because some words were written in Arabic on her clothes. Some people said that these were verses from the Quran.
But it is not true. What was written on his kurta simply meant ‘beautiful’. It is a simple Arabic word.
After being taken into custody, the woman also apologized in front of a cleric at the police station and said that now she would not wear such clothes again.
