East Godavari. Seven people died when a mini truck overturned in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. The accident took place in Devarapalli Mandal of East Godavari district. The driver was trying to avoid a pothole and went off the road and fell straight into the canal. All the seven people sitting on top of the truck died on the spot.
According to information, the ‘mini’ truck loaded with cashew nuts was going from Borrampalem in T Narasapuram mandal to Tadimalla in Nidadavolu when the driver lost control of the vehicle and the truck overturned in the canal. According to the police, those 7 people died due to suffocation after getting trapped under the sacks of cashew nuts. People and police pulled out the bodies from under the sacks and took them to Kovvur hospital for postmortem. According to the police, the driver fled from the spot after the accident.
East Godavari District Superintendent of Police Narasimha Kishore said that seven people died, one survived and is fine. He can even talk now. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep grief over this road accident.
