Who is Brij Narayan Chakbast, who has narrated a scene from Ramayana in Urdu? Emotional dialogue between Ram, Dashrath and Kaushalya…

Pran Pratishtha is to be held in the Ram temple of Ayodhya on Monday 22nd January.

Before this, Ram and many things were being discussed with him. Amidst all this, we remember a poet whose family was Kashmiri Brahmin and he was born in Faizabad.

The name of this personality was Brij Narayan Chakbast. Chakbast was born on 19 January 1882 in Faizabad.

He used to write ghazals and patriotic songs in Urdu. But his writings on Lord Ram in Urdu made him famous.

Especially a scene from Ramayana, in which he has created the scene of Lord Ram’s forest journey and the dialogue between Ram, Dasharatha and Kaushalya during this time, is very poignant.

How did Ram reach his father Dasharatha?
In a scene from Ramayana, Brij Narayan Chakbast has described the time when Lord Ram is leaving for exile.

Its first line is, “The name of God has been retired from the Father, the destination of the path of loyalty has become the first of all.” Lord Ram has come here to meet his father before leaving for the forest.

He says, O father, to keep the honor of your word, I am leaving Ayodhya. The situation is that Lord Ram does not even want to stay with his father for long.

Explaining the reason for this, the poet has written, “Ijhaar-e-be-kasi will cause more sorrow, if we are sad then there will be more sorrow”.

Kaushalya-Ram dialogue
After this Lord Ram reaches his mother Kaushalya. Chakbast has also described this scene very emotionally. The condition of mother Kaushalya has been described here.

Chakbast has written and described it like this, “Surat-e-Khayal went to the silent mother, and when I saw, she was sitting in a door in a dilapidated condition”.

Further Kaushalya herself tells her story. She says she knows that Lord Ram has come to her asking permission to go to the forest. She tells Ram, “If this is everyone’s happiness, then Sahara should be happy, but I will never say yes with my mouth.

How can I become the star of my eyes and send it to my beloved king in the form of a jogi?

Lawyer by profession, but expert in poetry
Pandit Brijnarayan belonged to an educated family. He had not only studied Urdu and Persian but also English.

In the year 1905, he passed BA from Canning College, Lucknow and after practicing law from there, he joined this profession. On the other hand, he was also not less fond of poetry.

It is said that when Brij Narayan was only nine years old, he composed his first ghazal. He died at a very young age. He died on 12 February 1926 at the age of just 44 due to brain haemorrhage.
