Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed the government at the Centre for a record third time.
Now that PM Modi will cross the age of 75 before the end of his third term, people are naturally wondering who could be BJP’s prime ministerial candidate after Modi.
This question has not only forced political analysts but also BJP supporters to think “Who after Modi?”
In the India Today Mood of the Nation Survey released in August 2024, people were asked who they would like to see as the Prime Minister after Narendra Modi in the BJP.
The opinions of the people who participated in the survey have revealed the names of some potential candidates who can replace Modi in the future.
The survey shows that more than 25% people have supported Amit Shah.
People have put Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the forefront as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate over other senior BJP leaders like Yogi Adityanath and Nitin Gadkari.
That is, if the survey is to be believed, people would like to see Amit Shah as the successor of Narendra Modi as the BJP’s prime ministerial face.
About 19% of the people have placed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the second spot. According to the survey, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari is the third most favourite for the top spot within the saffron party, getting 13% of the votes.
After these three leaders, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are with around 5-5 per cent votes.
Although Amit Shah leads the survey, his 25% approval rating shows a decline compared to the previous surveys in February 2024 and August 2023.
In the last two surveys, 28% and 29% of people had chosen Amit Shah among BJP leaders as the successor of PM Modi.
