Palestinian officials said 26-year-old Esenur Eygi had been involved in a campaign against Israel for the past few months. She had both American and Turkish citizenship.
Eige had recently graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle. University chairperson Ana Mari Coss described the news of his death as “terrible” in a statement and said Eige was very well behaved and had a “positive influence” on other students.
