No one from Gandhi family is in a position to contest elections in UP: Anurag Thakur
The Union Minister said, “No one from the Gandhi family will be in a position to contest elections from Uttar Pradesh. Not even those who contested and won the elections. Those who opposed Ram are afraid to step into UP.”
Sonia Gandhi is the only member of the Gandhi family who is an MLA from Rae Bareli, UP. In 2019, Rahul Gandhi lost the election from his old seat Amethi but won from Wayanad in Kerala.
Taking aim at Congress’ alliance with Samajwadi Party in UP, the Union Minister said that the party has entered into an alliance with those who had fired bullets on Ram devotees. Anurag Thakur was referring to the Mulayam Singh Yadav government’s action against Kar Sevaks in 1990 to stop them.
Fulfilled what was promised: Anurag Thakur
BJP, which is taking credit for fulfilling the promise of building a grand temple in Ayodhya, is also underlining the stand of opposition parties on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue.
The party is trying to highlight how the opposition parties were opposing the construction of Ram Temple, for which they had chosen the path of appeasement politics. The Union Minister said that BJP has not only promised to build Ram Temple but has also fulfilled it.
Anurag Thakur said the BJP also fulfilled other ideological promises, including removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and declaring triple talaq illegal.
He said, “BJP’s popularity and credibility has increased due to fulfilling its ideological promises from the first day.”
Congress accused of party politics
Anurag Thakur said that fulfilling these promises has been a big morale booster for the cadre and MPs. The minister attacked Congress for weakening democracy.
“They made the first attempt when they imposed emergency and then made another failed attempt to defame democracy,” he said. Raised questions on Sengol, distanced himself from all events like G20…He has proved that for him politics of pulses is bigger than the country.”
