Early in the morning on Saturday, October 26, Israel carried out air strikes on Iranian military bases.
Israel Defense Forces i.e. IDF said that this attack was carried out in retaliation for the ballistic missile attack launched by Iran on October 1.
News agency AP reported that there was no immediate information on damage in the Islamic Republic after the Israeli attacks. Iraq suspended flights after Israeli air strikes.
Let us tell you that the threat of Israeli attack was being given by Israel for almost a week.
Israel launched a direct ground offensive in the Gaza Strip and invaded neighboring Lebanon after last year’s Hamas attack. Militants armed and supported by Tehran have long been targeted.
Why did Israel attack Iran?
Today’s attack by Israel on Iranian military targets was in retaliation for the missile attacks on Israeli territory earlier this month. Israel vowed revenge against Iran immediately after the air strikes.
The attack is not a surprise, as Israel has repeatedly warned Iran about retaliatory attacks. Benjamin Netanyahu’s forces said it would respond forcefully, inflicting heavy damage on Israeli air defenses in some places in early October.
“The regime in Iran and its proxies in the region have been continuously attacking Israel since October 7,” Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a pre-recorded video statement. “This also includes direct attacks from Iranian soil.”
The sound of explosions could be heard in Iran’s capital Tehran. State media acknowledged the explosions and said some of the sounds came from air defense systems around the city.
A local resident in Tehran told the AP that at least seven explosions could be heard following Israeli rocket attacks on Saturday.
Iran attack
On 1 October, Iran launched a high-speed missile barrage on Israel. It was called the biggest ever attack by Tehran on Tel Aviv.
Iran said the attacks were aimed at military targets, but were largely thwarted by Israel’s air defenses. Iran has attacked Israel several times in recent months amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
