National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval not accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his US visit has become a topic of debate.
Top leaders from Australia, India, the US and Japan attended the Quad leaders’ meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, US.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry and India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra were seen with Prime Minister Modi. However, Ajit Doval was not seen anywhere with PM Modi.
Why did Ajit Doval not go to America?
Sanjay Baru, who was an advisor to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, tweeted that perhaps this is the first time that the NSA has not gone to America with the PM.
Actually, a US court had issued a summons in his name. However, the summons have not been formally sent yet. It is being said that he did not go to the US because of the summons.
Why was the summons issued
Before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pro-Khalistan leaders were also called to the White House and talked to.
This stance of America was strongly criticized in India. At the same time, a petition was filed in the New York court on the charges of attempted murder of Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in America.
The court has issued summons to several people from India. These summons have been issued a day before PM Modi leaves for America.
This summons includes the names of people like Ajit Doval, former RAW chief Samant Goyal and Nikhil Gupta. After this, a high level committee was formed in India regarding this matter.
The summons demanded a reply within 21 days, which the Foreign Ministry has termed as unnecessary. Many reports have not cited the summons as the reason for the NSA not going to the US.
NSA did not go to America due to domestic issues?
The report said that he did not go to America due to domestic issues and busy schedule. The Hindu reported that similar summons were earlier sent to Dr. Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Kamal Nath. Apart from this, summons were also sent to PM Modi after the Gujarat riots.
Ajit Doval, along with US security advisor Jake Sullivan, has brought to life the iCET platform. It is related to the defense industry and telecommunications.
Ajit Doval is going to France in the last week of September. In October, he will go to Russia to attend the BRICS summit.
