Bollywood actress and recently elected MP Kangana Ranaut has expressed her clear opinion against the caste census.
Echoing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement ‘Saath Rahenge, Nek Rahenge’, he said there should not be a caste census.
Kangana expressed her opinion on caste census in her recent interview, in which she called collecting data on the basis of caste as unfair and impractical.
In an interview to The Lallantop, Kangana said, “My stand on caste census is the same as that of Yogi Adityanath ji – we will stay together, we will stay noble, if we get divided, we will fight.
There should be no caste census at all.” He also said that we do not know the caste of people around us and in such a situation why there is a need to find out the caste is a question.
Kangana stressed that caste data has not been collected till date, so why is the need for this process being felt now.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has been in the news for the past few days. Recently, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann had made derogatory comments on Kangana, mentioning rape.
Kangana reacted sharply to this and accused Mann of downplaying the gravity of crimes against women.
Kangana said Mann’s comments show that crimes against women are deeply rooted in patriarchal mindsets that are even used in political and film industry controversies.
Kangana had also recently posted a clip of an interview in which she had said that if there was no strong leadership in the country, a ‘Bangladesh-like situation’ could have arisen in India too.
He alleged that dead bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place during the farmers’ movement.
Reacting to Mann’s remarks, Kangana said that it is no surprise that rape and violence against women are so deeply ingrained in the patriarchal mindset that they are used as a butt of controversies and jokes.
