Congress on Wednesday targeted the government over the suspension of 141 MPs of opposition parties from both Houses of Parliament and questioned why Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Simha has not been questioned yet in the security lapse case. ‘Who had helped both the accused to enter Parliament.’
Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “It has been exactly a week since the very serious security lapse occurred in the Lok Sabha. That dangerous incident shocked the entire country.
He said, “The Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha say that investigation into the matter has started.” Ok.
But why is it that even after seven days, BJP MP Pratap Simha, who helped the two accused enter the Lok Sabha, has not been questioned yet?
Jairam Ramesh said that this is a very strange situation as a case has been registered against the accused under the anti-terrorism law UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).
He said, “Meanwhile, 142 MPs of the ‘India’ alliance have been suspended for making a simple, simple and completely legitimate demand for the Home Minister’s statement in Parliament on the December 13 incident.”
Within the last few days, 141 MPs have been suspended from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for waving placards and raising slogans in the House.
49 Lok Sabha members were suspended on Tuesday for obstructing the proceedings of the House. MPs of the opposition group ‘India’ are demanding a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident of lapse in Parliament security on December 13.
