The US has imposed sanctions on 400 Russian and Chinese companies over the Ukraine war. The US Treasury Department said on August 23 that it had targeted companies and individuals whose products and services enable Russia to maintain its military efforts and evade sanctions.
The sanctions list includes 34 Russians, including Pavel Belousov, the son of Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. Apart from Russians and Chinese, citizens of Belarus, Italy, Turkey, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland are also included in the US sanctions.
US government will support Ukraine
In addition, the US Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced that it is taking aggressive action to further restrict the supply of US-origin and US branded goods to Russia and Belarus in response to the Kremlin’s illegal war on Ukraine. The US Treasury Department said the US government will continue to support Ukraine as it defends its independence.
