Proclaimed criminal Arsh Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla has been arrested in Canada.
Arsh Dalla is considered the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force. This matter is also getting extensive coverage in Canadian print and electronic media.
The official spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), reacting to this arrest, said that the Ontario Court has fixed a date for the hearing of this case.
According to MEA, various agencies of India will now take necessary steps for the extradition of Arsh Dalla.
Given Arsh Dalla’s criminal record in India and his involvement in illegal activities in Canada, it is expected that he will be brought to India for justice.
In response to media queries on the news of Arsh Dalla’s arrest, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “We have taken note of the media broadcast from November 10 on the arrest in Canada of declared criminal Arsh Singh Gill alias Arsh Dalla, chief of Khalistan Tiger Force. Have seen the reports.
Canadian print and visual media reported widely on the arrest. “We understand that the Ontario Court has listed the matter for hearing.”
Let us tell you that cases are registered against Arsh Dalla in India in more than 50 cases including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and terrorist activities.
A Red Corner Notice was issued against Arsh Dalla in May 2022 and the Government of India designated him as an individual terrorist in 2023.
Additionally, in July 2023, India had requested the Canadian government for his temporary arrest, which was rejected at that time.
Now MEA said that additional information has also been shared in this matter. This statement of MEA after this latest arrest raises new hopes regarding cooperation between India and Canada against terrorism and crime.
Jaiswal said, “In July 2023, the Government of India had requested the Government of Canada for his temporary arrest. This was rejected.
Additional information was provided to all Canadian authorities in this matter. Arsh Dalla’s suspected residential address, details of his financial transactions in India, movable/immovable properties, mobile numbers etc. were provided to Canada under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) to verify and a separate request in January 2023 Was also sent. In December 2023, the Canadian Department of Justice requested additional information on the case. “The answers to these questions were sent in March this year.”
“In view of the recent arrests, our agencies will process the extradition request,” the spokesperson said. “Given Arsh Dalla’s criminal record in India and his involvement in similar illegal activities in Canada, it is expected that he will be extradited or deported to face justice in India.”
Let us tell you that India-Canada relations remain seriously strained due to Canada’s alleged support to Khalistani separatists and its allegations of India’s involvement in Nijjar’s murder.
