The molestation case against cricketer Prithvi Shaw may gain momentum again.
Now a Mumbai court has ordered the police to investigate the matter. Social media influencer Sapna Gill had accused Shaw of molestation.
However, the police did not find anything against Shaw in the investigation. Gill had reached the magistrate court after the police did not register the case.
The matter is of the year 2023. Gill had alleged that Shaw had molested her in a pub in Andheri. However, Shaw had denied all the allegations.
In February 2023, several people including Gill were arrested in the controversy related to attacking Shaw. There are reports that there was a dispute over taking selfies in the hotel. At present, Gill is out on bail.
Metropolitan Magistrate SC Tayde has directed the police to submit the investigation report by June 19.
The court rejected Gill’s demand in which she wanted action against the police for not registering an FIR against cricketer Shaw and others based on her complaint. On Wednesday, Magistrate Tayde has ordered an investigation.
After getting bail, Gill approached the airport police station in Andheri. She had come here to lodge a complaint against Shaw, his friend Ashish Yadav and others for alleged molestation.
When the police did not register a case against the player, he approached the Magistrate Court.
The police had earlier told the court that examination of the CCTV footage of the pub revealed that Gill and his friend Shobhit Thakur were drunk and dancing.
Thakur wanted to record Shaw on the phone, but the cricketer stopped him from making the video. Police said that looking at the footage it does not appear that Shaw and others had molested Gill.
Police had said that statements of witnesses present in the pub were also taken. They say that no one had touched Gill inappropriately.
The police had also examined the CCTV footage of the Air Traffic Control i.e. ATC tower, in which it was seen that Gill was chasing Shaw’s car with a baseball bat in her hand.
The court was told that they had broken the windscreen of Shaw’s car. The police report also states that the CISF officer had given a statement that nothing had happened as Gill was claiming.
According to the CISF officer, he got information about the fight and after reaching the spot, he saw that the windshield of the car was broken.
