Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba arrived in New Delhi on Thursday on his first visit to India.

During this, he said that he will “carry forward the talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Narendra Modi” and will pay special attention to the peace formula.

Kuleba, who reached New Delhi on Thursday morning, is scheduled to meet Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Friday i.e. today. The two sides are expected to discuss Indian participation in the peace summit to be hosted by Switzerland in the summer.

Kuleba said bilateral cooperation between the two countries is important and will be strengthened. His two-day visit comes amid efforts for a peaceful resolution to the more than two-year-long Russia-Ukraine war.

“I started my visit to New Delhi on the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar,” Kuleba posted on X. Ukraine-India cooperation is important and we will further strengthen relations. “Based on the talks between President Zelensky and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will focus exclusively on the peace formula.”

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that during his visit, Kuleba will have several engagements, which will include official meetings with Jaishankar and Deputy NSA Vikram Misri.

In these meetings, matters related to bilateral partnership and cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest will be discussed.

The Foreign Ministry said that Kuleba’s visit is taking place on the invitation of External Affairs Minister Jaishankar. On the first day of his official visit, Kuleba visited Rajghat here and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Responding to a question on India’s stand at the Switzerland Peace Summit, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India will continue to promote a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict through “dialogue and diplomacy”.

“We will continue to encourage a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held separate talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on March 20 and stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Modi had spoken to Putin over telephone to congratulate him for winning the fifth time in the recent elections. The Prime Minister then called Zelensky and conveyed India’s support for all efforts for peace and an early end to the ongoing conflict.

During his conversation with Prime Minister Modi, Zelensky had expressed gratitude to India for supporting his country’s sovereignty. He said it would be important for Ukraine to see India participate in the first peace summit in Switzerland.
