Senior IPS officer Amrit Mohan Prasad was appointed Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Friday. Amrit Mohan Prasad, a 1989 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, is currently Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The order issued by the Personnel Ministry said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Prasad to the post of Director General of SSB. His tenure will be till August 31, 2025, the date he retires.
Guards the country’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. The post fell vacant after SSB chief Daljit Singh Chaudhary was appointed Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) on August 28.
