Even though the political environment of the country has changed a lot since the Lok Sabha elections, yet the attitude of the opposition parties makes it clear that the winter session of Parliament starting from Monday will also be turbulent.
Anyway, in the all-party meeting called on Sunday for the smooth conduct of the session, the way the opposition parties have demanded to discuss issues like Adani and Manipur violence, there is bound to be an uproar in it. The government has also indicated to bring about 16 bills like Waqf Amendment, One Nation-One Election during the session. Among these, there is already a conflict with the major opposition parties regarding Waqf, One Nation-One Election Bill.
Meanwhile, under the shadow of assembly elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and by-elections held in many states, the winter session of Parliament is starting from Monday, which will continue till December 20. The impact of the election results of these states will also be seen in the session. The functioning of the session was discussed in the all-party meeting held on Sunday for the smooth conduct of the Parliament session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government has listed about 16 bills for the session. These include the Waqf Amendment Bill and the Punjab Court Amendment Bill. Along with this, a bill related to one nation-one election can also be brought during the session. The government has already indicated this.
Rijiju said that the government is ready to discuss all issues as per the rules. She does not want the House’s time to be wasted at all. Meanwhile, the JCP formed under the leadership of Jagdambika Pal on the Waqf Amendment Bill will also submit its report on the last day of the first week of the session.
However, the opposition has demanded further extension of time given to the JPC. The opposition parties also presented their demands to the government during the session. Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, prominently demanded that the government discuss the bribery allegations against Adani. He also demanded discussion on Manipur violence, dangerous situation created by air pollution in North India and railway accidents.
Deputy Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari said that the way Adani has been accused of paying bribe of Rs 2,000 crore to get work in America is serious. The government should discuss this issue and expose all those taking bribes. Also, Adani should also be arrested immediately.
42 leaders of 30 parties including Congress participated in the all-party meeting called by the government regarding the Parliament session. These included BJP President JP Nadda, Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi, Pramod Tiwari and Jairam Ramesh, apart from T Shiva, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Anupriya Patel etc.
