The series of threats to bomb domestic flights does not seem to be stopping. On Saturday, Air India Express Flight IX-196 was threatened with a bomb. This plane was going from Dubai to Jaipur with 189 passengers.
According to Jaipur Airport Police SHO Sandeep Basera, this threat was given through email at 12.45 am on Sunday night.
After this, the plane landed at Jaipur International Airport at 1:20 pm. Here the security forces searched the plane thoroughly and nothing suspicious was found in it.
For the last few days, various flights have received bomb threats. Saturday was the sixth day when this trend continued.
So far, about 21 flights have received bomb threats. The government is also taking action regarding these threats.
According to reports, authorities have blocked ten social media handles making threats. Let us tell you that on Friday, London bound Vistara flight was diverted to Frankfurt after receiving threat.
An airline spokesperson said the flight had landed safely in Frankfurt. Earlier on Wednesday i.e. on October 16, a total of seven aircraft, four of IndiGo, two of SpiceJet and one of Akasa Air, received a bomb threat.
At the same time, on Tuesday i.e. 15th October, nine aircraft and before that on Monday i.e. 14th October, three aircraft have received similar threats.
Three Indigo planes have also received similar threats. One of these is Riyadh-Mumbai flight 6E74, which was diverted towards Muscat.
Another flight 6E 1011, which was going from Mumbai to Singapore, was landed in Singapore after the alert. At the same time, a security related alert was also issued to Indigo flight number 6E 515 going from Chennai to Lucknow. After the plane landed in Lucknow, it was made to stand apart.
On Tuesday also, a flight going from Delhi to Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad after receiving a threat. Similarly, an Akasa airline plane going from Delhi to Bengaluru returned back to Delhi after receiving threats on Wednesday.
A total of 174 people were on board this plane. SpiceJet spokesperson also said that a direct message was received on the airline’s X handle.
In this, threats were received regarding Leh-Delhi and Darbhanga-Mumbai flights. Earlier on October 15, Vistara Flight UK 161 going from Delhi to Hong Kong was threatened through social media. This flight landed safely in Hong Kong on Wednesday.
The question of continuous threats to planes has also been raised before the Parliamentary Committee.
Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Wulnam suggested at a meeting of the standing committee on transport, tourism and culture chaired by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha that investigators have collected some information and are taking action.
He said that they are also working on some other cases of such fake messages.
Sources, however, said they declined to share more details citing the sensitivity of the information due to the ongoing investigation in the case.
