Karelina’s former mother-in-law, Eleonora Srebrowski, told the NY Post, “We are all in shock. She is a very nice woman. She will never do anything bad to anyone. She can never do anything criminal. “Her mom and dad had recently divorced and she wanted to see family.”

Karelina faces treason charges for allegedly transferring $51.80 from a US bank account to Razom. According to information available on its website, the organization states its mission as “contributing to the establishment of a secure, prosperous and democratic Ukraine.”

It is worth noting that in Russia, treason charges carry serious consequences, including long prison sentences or even death. A total of 63 people have faced trial on treason charges since 2023 and 37 of them have been found guilty.
