A woman accompanying a patient to Chandigarh PGI assaulted a female doctor.

There was a ruckus due to the assault on a female doctor while on emergency duty and the emergency doctors stopped their work.

The matter has escalated so much that doctors have flatly refused to treat the patients. After 8 pm, patients admitted in emergency are not getting treatment nor are patients being admitted here.

At the same time, due to the doctors’ strike, a patient who came here for treatment in critical condition died. His family members have blamed the striking doctors as the reason for this.

At 8 pm on Monday night, a woman accompanying a patient admitted to the emergency of PGI assaulted a female resident doctor.

After this incident, the doctors started creating ruckus and stopped working in emergency. Resident doctors have gathered at one place and are protesting.

Their demand is that a police case should be registered against the woman who assaulted the doctor and that in future, strong arrangements should be made for the security of the doctors, only after this they will return to work.

After receiving information about the uproar, police from PGI police post also reached the spot. A female patient resident of New Chandigarh died due to lack of treatment after the emergency stopped. The name of the patient is Sunita Devi.

There was a strike for several days in protest against the Kolkata rape case.

Earlier, the doctors of Chandigarh PGI had protested fiercely for several days and kept the work at a standstill in connection with the rape and murder of a trainee female doctor in Kolkata.

Due to about 1500 resident and trainee doctors of PGI going on strike together, patients and their attendants had to face a lot of trouble in almost all the wards, OPD and emergency.

Every day thousands of patients from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan come to PGI for treatment.
