You become a very Turram Khan…a phrase made in the name of the brave man who made life miserable for the British; But banned in Parliament…

You become a very Turram Khan. You must have heard this saying.

Listening to the saying, it seems that there must have been a ruler named Turram Khan who must have been listening to no one before him.

Although this is not true. Turram Khan’s real name was Turrebaz Khan who is known for his bravery and fighting against the British.

Due to his organizational strength and bravery, he defeated the British and even escaped from a prison like Kala Pani.

Therefore, if you call someone Turram Khan, it is not an insult to him but in a way he is awarded the title of bravery.

However, in Parliament, the Lok Sabha Secretariat had included this word in the list which cannot be used during the proceedings. It also included words like Turram Khan, Shakuni and Dalal.

Who was Turram Khan?
Turram Khan was a freedom fighter from Hyderabad who was fighting the British in the revolution of 1857. He was against the British and the Nizam of Hyderabad.

At that time the Nizam of Hyderabad was supporting the British. The soldiers who opposed the Nizam were imprisoned.

After this Turram Khan attacked the British overnight. However, the British were already aware of this. A fierce battle took place but the British could not capture Turram Khan.

Turram Khan prepared an army to free the revolutionary Cheeda Khan from the British. After this he troubled the British.

The British put a reward on him. When he was caught, the British sentenced him to black water. Kalapani was counted among such prisons from where escape was impossible.

But Turram Khan threw dust in the eyes of the British and escaped from there too. The British were very worried about Turram Khan. They were determined to get him murdered by any means.

A man named Mirza Qurban Ali Baig caught him by deception in a forest and shot him. After this, his dead body was hanged in the city so that the British government would instill fear in the minds of the people.

But who knew that he would immortalize his name in proverbs as well.

Today, if we have to talk about someone’s stubborn attitude, the name of Turram Khan is taken. Actually that was because the British got worried even in front of their small army and they refused to bow down for the rest of their life.
